Winter Fitness in Dubai

Travelling and running? Why not? Especially when you get to run with fabulous sisters in Dubai. It was small crowd at the 2XU Compression Run Series : Race #3 at THE TRACK, Golf Clubhouse, Meydan, Dubai. There were 4 categories; 15km, 10km, 5 km and 3 km. I signed up for 5km to run with my daughter and other sisters.

It was a small friendly crowd, about 100 runners for 5 km category and more for 10km and 15km. We flagged off at 7am, one category after another. They provided 2 water stations for 5 km run and we get to see beautiful view of downtown Dubai. Families and friends run and support one another. After the run, we had a choice of bananas, apples, yummy muffins and coffee/tea/juices prepared for finishers.

I ran better in cold weather, I finished 4 for my category and the timing is not bad 31km. I typically finish a 5km in 35 mins. It was my personal best despite stopping twice to tie up my shoe lace and walking with my daughter shortly.

I like running in Dubai during winter cause I could run faster! Will come back again insyaAllah.

Because the struggle is real!

The Standard Charted KL Marathon is the biggest and the most famous running event in Malaysia. It is an event where all running communities gather and meet up. This year, I managed to join. Last year, it was cancelled due to the haze.

My flight from Kuching was at 5.30 pm and I touched down Kuala Lumpur 7 pm. It was 8 hours before the race. And I was nervous! Every Full Marathon always feel like my very first.

As early as 2 am, 2 hours before the race, thousands runners started to gather at Dataran Merdeka. We were all too excited for the race to start.

Let"s take wefie before run! yayy!

He managed to pace me for the first 21km ;) Thanks Hadi.

He managed to pace me for the first 21km 😉 Thanks Hadi.

Full marathon flagged off at 4am, and it was a long crowded queue at the starting line and the first 2 kilometers,it was just run easy pace since it was too crowded. I started to run at my own pace at kilometers 5 when people start to distance themselves.

I maintained my pace between 6 to 8 min/km until kilometres 21. By the Fajr time, I was already at Kilometres 16. It took 10 minutes to perform solah at the water station since we have to take turn. After the prayer, I continued to run. As I passed by the Duke and Akleh highways, the pace drop to 9 min/km. If you aim to finish sub 5.30, you can maintain this pace towards the end. Always watch out that the pacers for 5h 30 mins do not take over you.

Don't forget to smile at the camera!

Don’t forget to smile at the camera!

The water stations were available at almost every 3 km, provided with cold water and isotonic drink. It was very convenient for the runners because they could choose how frequent they needed to drink. As for me, I would drink although a sip at every water station. Water station is one of my motivations to run faster. I would try to run faster to reach the next water station.

Congrats Kak Eliza for doing PB in HM today! Keep it up!

Overall, the route was mainly Duke highway, Akleh highway and hilly route at Bukit Tunku at the last 6 km before the finish line. How I wish was wearing a pair of roller blades whenever I was close the finish line. The weather was too hot.

Words from The Pacer!

Pacers on the go!

Pacers on the go!

It was such a great honour when I was given the opportunity to be one of the pacers for 21km Men’s Health Women’s Health Night Run, for the second time, with improved timing : 2 hours 20 minutes.

My first time being a pacer was in May’16 at 21 km Men’s Health Women’s Health Night Run in Penang for timing 2 hours 30 minutes. And the next is a…surprise!

We can't wait to pace!

We can’t wait to pace!

Are you ready guys?!

Are you ready guys?!

It was raining heavily a few hours before the run, and we were worried and had questions in our minds, “Will there be lightning during the run?” “Will the event run smoothly?” But, yes! I love to run in rain.
When the race was about to start, the rain almost stopped but drizzling. I was quite nervous because my timing for pacing improved to 2 hr 20 mins, and it was raining, the road was wet and may be slippery, this and that..…
I was glad to meet other pacers for my timing and they were very friendly and kept supporting each other. As the race start, everything went smoothly until one of our balloons …popped!,..yes. It was.. at kilometers 2 (yup, as early as that,..am not sure why). Fortunately, we have another one since we were given two balloons. We kept inspiring people around us to keep up with our pace

“Keep running, keep moving guys”
“You can do it!”
“We almost there!”

We tried to maintain the pace, 6.25 – 6.30 min per kilometer. I was enjoying my run with the songs I downloaded a week before the race, and I played them on the loud speaker, and yes! Everyone seemed to enjoy them too. Yayy!

At the kilometers 14, my other pacers started to leave me behind. They ran even faster than the pace we were assigned to. Perhaps they were so used to run faster until they forgot our pace. And I kept running alone, entertained by the songs played on loud speaker. Fortunately, there were still a lot of people following me.I felt relieved –  Hoyeahh! Women power here!

With Amie Pacer 2:40 #nashatarunners

Things got worse when I felt I needed to go to toilet so badly at kilometers 16. Unfortunately, there was no portable toilet, no petrol station, no mosque. It was just a long, straight road ahead. It was a tough run, running with full bladder, but I had no choice but to continue running. I prayed to Allah, to help me finished the race on time, and to finished strong with this full bladder! At least for this time! Please!.… I kept on running.

Hijabi Pacers

Hijabi Pacers who choose to move a little more, to inspire a lot

I passed by the boards with marked “5km to go” then “3km to go” and finally I arrived at the finishing line with timing 2:20:40. Yayyy! I felt like I was on top of the world. It felt like I just crossed the finish line on a red carpet. Lots and lots of people cheered for me, “Good job Nasuha! Good job!”

I feel like a star that night. Alhamdulillah for that night!

Run for Vitality @ the MHWH Night Run

The Nashata Runners made their second running debut at the Men’s Health Women’s Health Night Run by AIAVitality yesterday in Putrajaya. The first was in Penang.  This time, we had a few runners running 12 km and 21 km while Nur Nahsuhah and Amie Kurtenbach paced the 21 km run.

Selamat Lari Raya

We had our little gathering before the run – a post Eid Celebration. We got a brownie cake specially made by Marathon Baker.  It was super duper yummeh, rich, chocolaty, Nutella frosting – everybody loved it.

We shared the cake with others. The cake didn’t hurt our run, all of us – except the busy pacers had our share loving the cake!

Nashata Runners – The Pacers

Nahsuhah and Amie were the official pacers at the run. Nahsuhah was one of the official pacers at the Penang MHWH Night Run so she was pretty ok to shoulder the responsibilities. Amie was a little bit nervous as it was her first experience, but she did well.

Many pacers’s balloons popped along the way, unfortunately. Perhaps, they could wear a bib displaying pace timing on their backs as a back up measures in the future. Both enjoyed pacing, taking turns with other pacers from various running teams to drink and rest and catch up so that the other runners stayed on track and achieve running goals that night.

“Such a nice experience to run as an official pacer HM 2:40.. Monitoring the pace, cheering and motivating the runners are part of the responsibilities. One guy who just recovered from his dengue fever waited at the finishing line and thanked me for pacing him. He managed to finish the run at 2:39.. That moment made me really happy”, shared Amie.

Running in the Rain

At 6 pm, it started to rain heavily at Putrajaya, and everyone involved in the run was giving heads up via whatsapp about coming in late due to jams in town.  I didn’t want to get my shoes wet before running so I tried not to walking around on wet grounds much.  A lot of people were late for the run due to the downpour.  When the 21 km flagged off at 8 pm sharp, many were still running towards the starting point through the gates.

Starting Off

Can you Run Faster in a Cool Weather?

It was drizzling a bit till the first 2 km. I enjoyed the run because it was cool. It was my kind of a weather to run well. After the first 5 km, I felt both my right shoes and sock were damped –  a little discomfort but I kept running.

Just like the run in Penang, the traffic control was good; there were cones allocated along the highway giving a lot of space for runners to run and overtake each other. There were ambulances patrolling along the route and paramedics team was busy assisting runners with cramps at a few stops. One stretch was quite dark when the road lights went off due to circuit malfunction and we saw sparks of fire coming out from the lamp post on the other side of the road. If you plan to run at the MHWH Night Run in Johor, make sure you go to the toilet before the run as there were no mobile toilets along 21km in Penang and Putrajaya.

It was fun & rewarding for me as I get to run with my husband and brother. We ran together throughout the race, overtaking but not far from each other at times. My timing improved and I ran with zero injury – so I am happy.

5 TIPS TO STAY ENERGIZED DURING FASTING MONTH

Often we feel lethargic during the month of Ramadhan due to lack of nutrients. Ramadhan is a month of worshiping God that is portrayed in many ways; like tarawikh prayers, reciting Quran, zikr, doing good deeds, charity and more. Performing some deed can drain your energy out. A popular question for muslims; Is there a way to make it up to this? There are more deeds I would love to do but how do I stay energized when fasting? Come! Let’s find out how.

1. Eat energy booster food

Foods that is high in fiber, proteins and good fats (e.g: obtained from fish, nuts, coconut oil, and etc.). These kind of foods will slower your hunger and boost you body energy. Nevertheless, you still have to keep a balanced diet and moderate. Avoid eating unhealthy oily food although they are easily accessible at bazaars. Go for quality, not quantity. Bake instead of fry. Drink plenty of juices or eat a lot of fruits to keep body hydrated and nutrient. Be picky with what you eat.

It has been mentioned by Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) regarding healthy eating habits: “A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one third of food, one third for drink and one third for air.” [Ibn Majah]

Break your fast with a light and balanced iftar

2. Drink plenty of water

Inadequate of water can lead to dehydration. If you’re not keeping the right level of water in your body, your body will struggle. How do you do it during Ramadhan? Here’s how:

  • 2 glasses at suhur
  • 4 glasses between iftar and suhur
  • 2 glasses at iftar

Nevertheless, you should know your body needs of water intake everyday. Here’s a chart you should know on water intakes for your body needs. Drink fruit juices to add more nutrient for your body.

minum air ikut berat badan

3. Shake it up

Maintain your metabolism during Ramadhan as it may decline due to lesser food intake. Sitting too much or less movement makes your body more lethargic. Try walking around or do a mini workout to regain your activate your body energy. You can try yoga, pick up dumbells or do light stretches. Just get up and do something else shortly to improve blood circulation. Even preparing your own healthy meals for breakfast can keep you alive! Find and try out new healthy recipes during Ramadhan.

Dumbells for Office

4. Socialize around

Distract the tiredness by small chatting with your colleagues and friends. Socializing minimizes stress, boosts brainpower, and rids away the fatigue. While you chat, don’t forget to stick a smile and laugh more as it stimulates energy and improves mood. You might want to add some entertainments like playing games for a suggestion, just to be free from stress.

5. Sleep tight

Get a good night sleep to improve your energy level for the next day. How can you achieve that? Sleep soundly by turning off electronic gadgets and make sure your bedroom is cool with the right temperature. Make sure you get at least 6 hours of sleep a day despite the late night Tarawih prayers and early morning suhoor. If you can nap during daytime, you could do that to ensure your body gets enough rest. Do not compromise your sleep.

Keep a healthy diet and ibadah this Ramadhan. Get your fitness and ibadah routines work hand in hand harmoniously for a better wellness.

How to Run Happy During THAT Time of the Month

Girls hardly talk about challenges while running during period openly even though they are common problems faced by many female runners. Sometimes, we would pray very hard not to get our period during running events so that we wouldn’t have to worry about what to wear, what pain would strike us while running, extra items to bring for the run and the list goes on.  All women have different problems and symptoms, and they do in a way or the other affect performance; bloating, headache, stomach cramps, heavy bleeding, hormonal imbalances and others. Whatever the challenges may be, there are ways to overcome.

The nashata runners decided to put together some best practices based on our experiences and share with our sisters.

Pre-Run

  • Plan your race
Before you register for any running event, check your menstrual cycle and see if the date falls during your period. Avoid racing on the first two days or during heavy flow. If you are comfortable to run during period, go ahead and register.
  • Consume the right food a week before the race
Balance hormones and a well nourished body help reduce pain, cramps and mood swing. Every body is unique, hence there is no food combination that fits all. However, you can enrich your body with the right nutrients to:
    1. Balance hormones
Consume food that promotes hormone balance.  So girls, avoid taking too much sugar and processed food but do ensure you consume sufficient protein.  If you suffer from headache during period, sometimes it means your estrogen level is low. Therefore, you need to eat natural food high in phytoestrogen to increase estrogen level. You can try green vegetables like broccoli and green beans,  while fruits like dates and apricots, seeds and grains like flax-seeds and sesame seeds are among the delicious high phytoestrogen food.
    2. Reduce cramps
Eat natural food that is rich in calcium & iron like spinach and chickpeas. Other natural food that contains magnesium, vitamin B6, potassium, bromelain like bananas and pineapple helps to relief cramps as well. If you like something meaty instead, add salmon into your diet. It is rich in Omega 3 and vitamin D. Lastly, add dark chocolate moderately into your diet!
Keep body hydrated, drink plenty of water.
  • Prepare Feminine Kit
Make sure these item fit in your pockets / running belt together with other items
    1. Sanitary Napkin / Tampon
We find tampons are not favorable among  runners. Perhaps many  do not feel safe with the method all together. Therefore, if you use sanitary pads, make sure you get the ones with surfaces gentle for skin and ultra thin. Look at the product description and search for the ones labelled “cottony surface” and avoid dry surface, micro-dry cover or dry net sheet. If you have sensitive skin and plan to run long hours, avoid wearing the ones with wings. This is to avoid chafing, blister or abrasion on your skin. Estimate and pack enough for your run. Wrap sanitary pads discreetly in a plastic bag before you toss into your pocket.
We found out later from other runner that period cups are also suitable for active ladies.
    2. Pain killers
Sometimes the pain can be unbearable and pain killers can help you focus on your run instead of enduring the pain. So bring along a couple of tablets with you.
    3. Ointment (if necessary)
If you know certain remedies that could reduce pain and discomfort  just bring it with you. Pack your remedy in a travel-friendly size.
    4. A few pieces of tissue paper
Just in case you don’t find any in toilets
  • Know the Route in Advance
Make sure you study the route and know the location of toilets and portable toilets. Pace, time your run and stop accordingly depending on your condition
  • Pack Clean Dry Clothes
Pack your best post-running outfits and bring to the race!
  • Yoga
Prepare your body. There are a few yoga poses that can relief cramps and period pains. You could take a few minutes of your training to perform Cobra Pose and Camel Pose that can be therapeutic for mild back pain and menstrual discomfort

Camel Pose : Relief Back Pain & Cramps

Camel Pose : Relief Back Pain & Cramps

During Race

  •  Wear suitable attire
Dark color pants would make you feel more confident. Wear pants that have pockets for you to carry feminine kit. Wear sanitary pads that are as described above or other preferred insertion methods like tampons or cups. Soft lining, non-wings (to avoid chafing), ultra thin.
  • Estrogen-Friendly Bar
Know the nutrients you need for your hormonal condition and packs them in a form of bars for the race. You can make your own or you buy from Marathon Baker. Find the ones made of dark chocolate, flax-seeds, bananas, dates, apricots and turbo-charged with protein.
  • Access Health Level
Before you start the race, listen to your body. If you are suffering from severe period pain, headache or heavy bleeding before flag-off, don’t push yourself. There will always be other runs.
  • Stop and Seek Help if in Pain
Time and pace your run and know where and when to stop to check your period (based on your flow). As much as you wanted to perform, if you feel pain while running, give yourself a break, and if paramedics are easily accessible, get help from them. You can also make use of feminine kit you have packed to relief yourself; pain killer & ointment.  When your condition improves, continue the race. Again, listen to your body all the way to finish line.
  • Focus to Finish the Race
Chin up and keep running. Focus to finish strong!

Post-Run

  • Quickly Change into Clean Outfit and Rejoice
Make yourself feel better by changing into a clean outfit immediately after your run.
  • Replenish Your Body  Immediately
Bananas and fruits are good for immediate consumption. If you are a slow runner, be prepared to reach finish line to find no food available for you. Therefore, if you are running long distance, pack some fruits (don’t carry them with you at the run).
  • Improve Preparation for your Next Run
Every body is different and what works for you may be different from others. As long as your remedy works for you, keep doing, keep improving your run during menstrual period. How to Run Happy during THAT time of the Month

Good luck girls. Hope our collective tips are helpful!

Nike We Run KL 2016

About a week before Nike We Run KL, I had ambitions about breaking my personal best (PB) and aimed for a sub 2:30 hour for 21km. I studied the route, I had it all planned out…until I was down with fever a few days before the big day, and the fever progressed to sore throat, cough and flu.

So I have two options:

Would I rather finish a race just for the sake of completing it since I am unable to give my best,

Or

Would I rather rest, DNS (Did Not Start, in other words, did not show up) for the race at all? 21km sounds like a rather long journey.

The night before the event, I decided to proceed with the race and finish it, even if it means I will end up walking. Besides, I will end up feeling even more miserable at home alone anyways. Thankfully, I was placed in the above 2:30 hour starting pen, so I was out of the way of Elite runners who were aiming for the podium. I could take my time completing the race.

I started off feeling pretty comfortable about my health. Maybe it was at the sight of encouraging friends, or the adrenaline rush of running in a crowd, or the ‘runners high’ that was kicking in. I continued my pace consistently until it was time for Fajr prayer break at about 5KM. The organizers were thoughtful about planning the route, because there was a masjid strategically placed at the right time. After completing my prayers, I continued running. At 10KM my lungs were slowly caving in, and the coughing and sneezing fit ensued. At this point, I was already too far into the race, in fact, I was almost half way. It’s too late to give up now, hence the run-walk-run-walk cycle begins. I ran when I felt comfortable for as long as my lungs could keep up, and walked when I couldn’t continue.

After slightly more than 3 hours later, I crossed the finishing line with a timing that I was not proud of. But I was thankful that I made it in one piece, without having to ride the ambulance. I caught my breath in a less crowded tent, quickly took a few pictures and headed straight home.

Did I regret my decision to run today? Not one bit. I guess I was just too stubborn to quit.

It was a humid night and some runners were already sweaty waiting for respective flag offs at the AIAVitality Men’s Health Women’s Health (MHWH) Night Run Village, located next to the mall.I was there to run my second 21km for this year and support #NashataRunners and friends. We had #NashataRunners : Sarah, Aqila, Lyana, Intan, Nahsuhah & I for 12km and 21km. I was also looking forward to run by the sea and enjoy the night scene of the Second Penang Bridge.

HIJABI 21KM PACER – the Orange Rose

The AIAVitality MHWHNightRun is a pivotal running event for #NashataRunners as one of our runners Nur Nahsuhah was given the opportunity to be the official pacer for 2 hour 21 min, 21km category. We were thrilled and happy for her. We knew she would do great because Nahsuhah has always been a great motivator and full of positivity.  Thank you AIAVitality for giving her the opportunity to pace.  Nahsuhah was the only female pacer among 11 pacers for 21 km. Alhamdullilah, not only she paced in a timely manner, she also enjoyed it that she is happy to do more in the future.

NASHATA RUNNERS

The flag off for 21km was on time at 9 pm, and the runners were fast.  I was aiming to just finish the run since my right knee has been giving me pain everytime I train. I didn’t train for the past week and was saving the pain for the run.

Intan as usual ran effortlessly, ahead of me – slow and steady, and finished strong below 3 hours. I on the other hand, ran super slow and finished around 3 hour 18 min. It was good enough for me.
Nashata Supporter

Thank you Nashata Supporters for Running & Makan with Us!

Thanks to the well-organised run & super-cool runners – despite the heat, I enjoyed it. We ran down south and passed many factories at industrial zone. Safety was well-managed and many paramedics and ambulances were on standby throughout the route. The roads were closed and cordoned off nicely. Water stations were well managed by friendly volunteers who served us with water and isotonic drink. I wished they provided some salt water though.

It felt like an El-Nino run as it was hot and humid throughout the night run, until after 11:30 pm we got nice breeze countering us while running back to Queensbay Mall. The heat definitely tires me fast the first 8km.

The 12km run was flagged off earlier at 8:30pm. Sarah and Aqilah had so much fun at their very first 12 km run. Do expect these young girls to run more!

Talking about goodies, we were pretty joyful receiving lots of stuffs inside the bag. The items received are Lucozade Sport’s drinks, Appeton Vitamins, drinking bottle, few CLEAR shampoos, a car figurine, GRABCAR wrist rubber band, a medal and lots of vouchers. Gosh, it felt like receiving presents from Santa Claus, LOL!

Did you know that until 1967, no women participated in a full marathon event? Katherine Switzer broke that record and signed up as a gender-neutral “K. Switzer” in Boston Marathon. When reporters realised she was a lady, she made headlines. She continued fighting to empower women in sports, and the rest is history. Imagine what would have happened if Katherine Switzer decided not to run! I am so glad that female-friendly races are becoming more common these days. Fast forward to 2016, inspired by Katherine Switzer’s legacy, I was honoured to run under Team Nashata in the full marathon category for Malaysia Women Marathon.

IMG_3061 IMG_3060An opportunity to run with the ladies of Nashata? Why yes of course!

When the gun goes off at exactly 4.00am, it’s show time. Game face on, it is time for a second shot at completing a full marathon. This time, the challenge lies not in the distance, but in the cut off time. I have never completed a full marathon in 6 hours and 30 minutes. My personal best at 42km was during Pink Ultra when I clocked in just slightly under 7 hours. So shaving off 30 minutes will be a struggle.

IMG_3067Excited for pacer duties, boys?

Everything was fine and I was ahead of schedule up to the 30km check point. The last 10km was the hardest part, especially the highway route. The rolling hills along the LKSA highway, the heat, the emptiness…you can run for miles without bumping into anybody. The highway route felt like forever to complete. At this point, it was a battle between the mind and the body. Many people started walking, and I felt like I should start walking too. I was glad that I had my pacer with me. We didn’t talk much, but at least he was there to keep me company. He pushed me to continuously run, no matter how slow I went, which I tried to abide to (in protest!). In the end I ended up with the walk-run-walk-run cycle just like everyone else, and my pace fell dramatically towards the end. Not to mention the confusing signage and unclear direction from the marshall at the 38km, causing most participants to lose precious time hesitating which direction they should go.

Hunger was slowly settling in too. But I was surprised that the only food provided along the way was only bananas, apples, and pears. I was accustomed to seeing at least some biscuits, chips, ice-cream, or at least Coca-cola in most long distance events, so the lack of sweet and salty snacks spread was pretty surprising. Luckily, I had my energy gel with me, and my pacer bought along some protein drink mix.

IMG_3064The last few hundred metres push. Believe me, I wasn’t smiling if it wasn’t for the camera.

IMG_3068Spotted any of these cheer squad along the way? Boys, your macho level and manliness just went up a notch in those tutu skirts and pompoms!

I managed to conclude my 2nd attempt at a full marathon in 6 hours and 33 minutes, exceeding the cut off time by 3 minutes. Now I wished that I listened to my pacer because he was right when he said “Hey no pain, no gain, girl!”. I have to train harder for my next full marathon in a few months time, because it is not fun being among the last ones to arrive!

What’s Cooking at MWM 2016?

The Malaysia Women Marathon is back this March! This year Karen Loh, the Race Director welcomed the guests and media in an apron and long boots. Yes, Karen is full of surprises, so be prepared to get loads of them with classy feminine touches at the run!

The RUN

There are 4+1 categories at MWM 2016: 5km, 10km, 21km and 42.195 km. The other category is for charity where corporate companies can participate in a 3km race.

The date of the race is 6 March (Sunday) and the flag off venue is the same as previous years; Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam (GPS Coordinate: 3.07266, 101.515861). Race Kit Collection starts 4th March – 5th March at Bandar Rimbayu IJM Lands (GPS Coordinate : 2.941069, 101.54636). Make sure you use GPS coordinates as I couldn’t find Bandar Rimbayu IJM on Waze nor Google Maps.

Those who are running full marathon would start from Dataran Merdeka to Rimbayu and back to Dataran Merdeka. The roads to Bandar Rimbayu are ushered by lushes trees from rain trees to palm oil trees so do expect a nice cool run. Here are all the routes at a glance.

THE TOP

What I like about MWM this year is the long sleeves running tee. Yay, finally, a tee that suits our hot and sunny weather. Assuming you run a full marathon for 5 hours, you would be on the road till 9am. In Malaysia, after 730am, the morning sun can give you a sun burn. Unfortunately the long sleeves was just for press conference. For the run, you would get the running vest.

RUN SISTER RUN is the theme for this year and you get the print together with a gold emblem on the running tee.

THE PEOPLE

Not only there was the Queen of Marathon, Anand the Orange Man from Hooha was also at the Press Conference to give support !

I also bumped into Kelvin Ng, one of the male pacers at MWM 2015. I was following him towards the end of my run last year and I am thankful for having a witty pacer like him at MWM. I hope he paces again this March!

I did my first full marathon at MWM 2015 and I encourage first timers to take the opportunity to push yourself to the next level at MWM because it is woman-friendly and super fun! You can read my experience at MWM last year here.
