‘For a Better 2017’ to ‘Woman Up 2018’!

The year is coming to its end and we hope you are achieving your goals, especially your fitness goals. Nevertheless, here’s a thumbs up ? for all of us – for trying, for training, for getting up early, for reminding each other to eat healthy and keeping fit, for sharing, for motivating each other in our own ways, for pushing the boundaries, for breaking stereotypes, for friendship, for not quitting, for taking care of ourselves and the list goes on. Fitness is a lifestyle, a journey, so let’s continue improving our routines.

The theme for 2017 is #ForABetter2017 and alhamdulillah, 2017 is a healthy year for our dear customers, partners and us. We get more and more sharing from our beautiful sisters – about their victories and fitness journeys, we get to build more innovative products and foster friendships and partnerships with amazing people across the globe. Best of all – to know that we are all growing in our own ways, every moment.

    We organised, supported and were part of several fitness events and below are the women-related-ones:

  • Zest of Choices and Innovation in Sports
    1. Purposeful Sports Hijab Designs
      We produced sports hijab designs which are sport-focused. This is to suit the nature of certain sports and dress guidelines. For example, the Hooda Racerback Sports Hijab is for cyclist and runners, while the Hooda Ellipse Sports Hijab is suitable for yoga and inversion. Raazglove with improved fabric is suitable for archery and shooting.
      We also added useful features into our designs. Tunes Series Sports Hijab – are earpiece-friendly as they have small holes for you to insert and remove ear pieces from the outside. We added pockets with zip for the Hooda Sports Hijab and the Hooda Racerback.
    2. Affordable Athleisure Collection
      If you want to stay active and comfortable, you need good athleisure-wear. We produced more leisure-type designs, with affordability and comfort in mind. The fabric is soft and lightweight and designs are simple and pleasant for leisure and vacation! Some of the athleisure designs are the Hooded Cardigan, Athleisure Top, Athleijab (RM39 only), Kebaya Sports and the Hattha Pants. 
    3. More Bottoms
      We have got more bottoms covered for you in 2017 with the top-selling EZ Skirts, more fun and functional leggings, and more pants for modest ladies like the Jasmine and the training pants

    We will continue to produce new and improved products and more inspiring stories of our active sisters on social media. 2018 is about giving more choices for larger and tall ladies.     We would like to foster more confidence and empowerment within ourselves and our sisters. Let’s push the boundaries and explore excitement in fitness at different levels. Yoga in the Park

As I am still enjoying my break from running, I had another chance to learn more about yoga, tailored for runners (Wow, off-season sure has been fun with different types of cross trainings!)  Last Saturday, the Nashata ladies were delighted to have a yoga class with Nadiah in a park called Taman Botani Putrajaya.

I love how everyone expresses their individual style in Nashata. Mix and match with what you have in your wardrobe to create a look that is uniquely you!

It was the first time that I practiced yoga outdoors. Previous experiences working out in a studio was still fun, yet I felt more energized being out in the morning sun. As usual, we started with a few basic poses such as Sun Salutation, Downward Dog, and Child’s Pose. These basic poses were great for warming up and waking up our muscles on a Saturday morning.

Eventually the poses got harder and more complex, yet the Nashata ladies were undeterred. Even though we could not perform the poses perfectly, we kept trying to do several head stands and hand stands. After all, it’s the effort that matters, right? Nadiah explained that these poses were great to build upper body muscle just by using our body weight. So it is great for ladies to become lean and get rid of the flabs. It is also great for building the core, an essential part for a stronger run.

After learning about yoga 2 weeks in a row, I have become more conscious about my breathing. We can always strive for elaborate poses, rubber-like flexibility, and enormous strength, but we can never fully appreciate yoga if we don’t learn how to breathe properly. The best part is that I can practice breathing when I am driving, running, or working; I inhale deeply and slowly at the count of 5 while sucking in my core, and exhale slowly at the count of 5 too. Immediately, my muscles will feel less tensed and I can think better thanks to more oxygen in my system.

Based on my limited knowledge in yoga I was not really sure which type of yoga we practiced that day. Nonetheless, we had a great time together. I hope to join more of Nadiah’s classes in the future!

Hooda Sports Hijab – A Design Innovation for Fit Hijabists

Hooda Sports Hijab was born to solve a few problems I personally faced while performing fitness activities. I wanted a hijab that does not flip when the wind blows or when I jump. Later when I started yoga, I realized how needful the hijab would be for certain poses that require inversion and backwards-bends

Even though you hardly hear others complaining about flipping hijab, 2 years ago, I believed this was a problem that needs solving. Solving this problem was not only for myself. This is because I wanted modest ladies and hijabists to perform fitness activities without boundaries. I wanted my sisters to be able to focus on their workout and not worry about their hijab flipping and not secured.

We put a lot of thoughts into our designs so that they suit modest active women. Thanks to design innovation, hard work, and perseverance Hooda Sports Hijab was conceptualized late last year and we made a few prototypes and tested its feasibility. Alhamdulillah, with the power of collaboration, determination and Allah’s grace, the Hooda Sports Hijab made its first debut on Facebook 28th February and was made available at nashata.com on February 29.

Little did we expect the Hooda Sports Hijab would go viral immediately with more than 2,400 shares. It was sold out within a day.
