‘For a Better 2017’ to ‘Woman Up 2018’!

The year is coming to its end and we hope you are achieving your goals, especially your fitness goals. Nevertheless, here’s a thumbs up ? for all of us – for trying, for training, for getting up early, for reminding each other to eat healthy and keeping fit, for sharing, for motivating each other in our own ways, for pushing the boundaries, for breaking stereotypes, for friendship, for not quitting, for taking care of ourselves and the list goes on. Fitness is a lifestyle, a journey, so let’s continue improving our routines.

The theme for 2017 is #ForABetter2017 and alhamdulillah, 2017 is a healthy year for our dear customers, partners and us. We get more and more sharing from our beautiful sisters – about their victories and fitness journeys, we get to build more innovative products and foster friendships and partnerships with amazing people across the globe. Best of all – to know that we are all growing in our own ways, every moment.

Thumbs Up for a Great 2017

Thumbs Up for a Great 2017

Some highlights in 2017 :

  • Being with the Girls in Fitness
We organised, supported and were part of several fitness events and below are the women-related-ones:

  • Zest of Choices and Innovation in Sports
    1. Purposeful Sports Hijab Designs
We produced sports hijab designs which are sport-focused. This is to suit the nature of certain sports and dress guidelines. For example, the Hooda Racerback Sports Hijab is for cyclist and runners, while the Hooda Ellipse Sports Hijab is suitable for yoga and inversion. Raazglove with improved fabric is suitable for archery and shooting.
We also added useful features into our designs. Tunes Series Sports Hijab – are earpiece-friendly as they have small holes for you to insert and remove ear pieces from the outside. We added pockets with zip for the Hooda Sports Hijab and the Hooda Racerback.
    2. Affordable Athleisure Collection
If you want to stay active and comfortable, you need good athleisure-wear. We produced more leisure-type designs, with affordability and comfort in mind. The fabric is soft and lightweight and designs are simple and pleasant for leisure and vacation! Some of the athleisure designs are the Hooded Cardigan, Athleisure Top, Athleijab (RM39 only), Kebaya Sports and the Hattha Pants.
    3. More Bottoms
We have got more bottoms covered for you in 2017 with the top-selling EZ Skirts, more fun and functional leggings, and more pants for modest ladies like the Jasmine and the training pants
  • Conveniences for Customers
Improved shopping experience at nashata.com. The webstore is more mobile friendly, you can find products easier and now, you can add reviews.
Also, in our continuous efforts to make Nashata products more affordable (shipping cost is expensive) and accessible(shorter shipping period) for our customers, and to provide better services, together with our partners, we have launched

id.nashata.com

These local-sites carry selected Nashata products, and insyaAllah, more items will be made available and more local-sites will be launched in 2018. If you are keen to be a part of this movement in your region or country, just drop us an email at contactus@nashata.com

From ‘For a Better 2017’ we will ‘Woman Up 2018‘. It simply means we will focus on :

  1. Producing Better Products and Services
We will continue to produce new and improved products and more inspiring stories of our active sisters on social media. 2018 is about giving more choices for larger and tall ladies. Our search for plus size model is still ongoing till the end of Dec 2017. The link to register : http://bit.ly/NashataPlusSize
  2. Making an impact for women in universities through Nashata University program. We understand the growing challenges as  students to watch weight and eat healthy food and we care about them. Hence, it is our goal to foster active and healthy lifestyle among our sisters in universities. More to be shared soon, insyaAllah.
  3. Woman Up – Beyond Running, Without Boundaries
We would like to foster more confidence and empowerment within ourselves and our sisters. Let’s push the boundaries and explore excitement in fitness at different levels. It can be about  learning new sports, participating in new races, overcoming our fears and limitations. Remove boundaries, and let’s progress together.

Thank you for a Great 2017. Don’t forget to unwind before the year ends and set your goals for #WomanUp2018 ! ☺

Let’s Woman-Up girls!

Virtual Race – A Choice without Borders

Have you ever wondered if the world is truly borderless? With the spirit of sportsmanship and technology, races are definitely without borders. Virtual running and races connect like-minded people regardless of location, level of fitness or time. What’s important is having the same goals and motivation.

What is a Virtual Race?

When you join a virtual race, you get to run, swim, cycle or walk anywhere, at your own pace, in a team or solo, within a specific time or period, depending on the type of virtual race you sign up for. There are many types of virtual races – charity, for specific causes, challenges, group challenge and many more. More and more virtual races have charity element to them, making participation more rewarding!

Benefits of Virtual Races

  1. You won’t miss the races, because they give you more time flexibility.
You get to finish your race within a longer period of time or at times that suits your schedule. Usually virtual races are offered for at least a few days or even months to achieve certain mileages or goals. This gives you more time to plan, achieve fitness goals and finish your run! After all, you can race ANYWHERE as long as it is safe.

Yanetherunner from Brunei updates on BiiB App

  2. More choices, more affordable – by medal, cause, anywhere
You can be apart of any virtual races. You need not travel, pick up race kits and spend time to be a part of something you like.  Join virtual race of your choice and get finishers reward delivered to you virtually or physically.
  3. You get to be a part of a team and make new friends
Your friends and teammates can be anywhere and be a part of your journey or be supporters. You get to make new friends without borders.
According to BiiB, their Run To Give Virtual Race had 100% finishing rate for all the runners who formed a team to run. In fact, in Feb – April 2017, through Nashata Virtual Run for Charity, four #NashataRunners and twelve other running sisters from different parts of the world ran virtually a combined mileage of 1,941 km and raised more than RM4,000 for three charity groups in Brunei, South Africa and Singapore. We got to make new friends and support a cause of a runner.
  4. Suitable for beginners and tech-savvy ones
Virtual races are backed by technologies that give you several types of privacy choices without impeding goals. You can compete with yourself or support a charity of your choice better at virtual runs. If you are shy, virtual race is a good option for you.
  5. Inculcate continuous fitness habits
Virtual races give you better privacy control – you can choose to celebrate with those concerned or publicly and Be The Achiever! It instills the motivation to continuously run, bike or swim as a habit.

Virtual Races help inculcate continuous fitness habits. Testimonial of BiiB’s runners

The Inspiring Running Niqabi From Durban

IMG_7125

Zaheda finished strong in her Half Marathon in Durban few weeks ago ?

Zaheda is one of the running sisters from Durban, South Africa who joined Nashata Virtual Run For Charity in March edition to support Baitul Aman Children Center in South Africa. Zaheda is 43 years old and a mother of 3. She runs in veil and in March and she collects the highest mileage among all which is 170km. Here are a few sharing about her passion in running in Q&A:

1. Q: When did Zaheda start running?

A : Fitness has always been a big part of my life from a young age but I only started running in my final year at school for 500 dollar loan. I went to a school where athletics played a major role, but I never participated. In my final year, I felt like I wanted to finish knowing that I at least tried. I finished second last but I was bitten. Starting off was very difficult for me, I felt like I couldn’t breathe and I almost gave up but I didn’t. Everyday, I’d go back to it until slowly I started getting better and better at it and I was doing longer distances each time. I became hooked as I was happiest when I was out there. In terms of speed and pace I’m pretty slow but I’m working on it.

2. Q: How frequent does Zaheda run?

A: I aim for 25KM a week but this year, I’m quite busy so sometimes I was only running on my treadmill, 3 to 5km, 4 or 5 times per week. On a week day, I limit my running time to an hour.

FullSizeRender (3)

онлайн займ на карту без отказа These are some of the recorded mileage collection for Nashata Virtual Run for Charity South Africa,..she manage to collect 170km in March 😉

3.Q : When and where does Zaheda run?

A: I run early in the mornings. I live in the area which is very near to the beach, so I always run along the beach on the promenade. I am a mum of 3, my kids are independent and grown up but I  try to run at time that doesn’t affect my family life. When I get back from my run, they are getting up and I’m there to prepare their breakfasts and school lunches and see them off to school.

Zaheda runs very early in the morning

4.Q : What motivates Zaheda to run?

A : My sister, Zainab run much faster, very disciplined and she is incredibly amazing and I draw my inspiration from her. We run together every Sunday and we always encourage each other to keep improve ourselves. Other than that. I have always found that running helps me get back in shape and I feel good when I’m running consistently. Unfortunately, life sometimes doesn’t allow you to do as you please always. That been said, I am also finding my time for it with proper time management and discipline you can always make it work; this is what my sister, Zainab taught me.

Note : Zainab runs at Nashata Virtual Run for Charity too and she runs FAST!

5. Q : How is Zaheda’s diet like?

A : As far as my diet, I’m not the most disciplined but I’m training myself to control my indulgences as well as my portions. What you eat really affects the way you run. Don’t take fizzy drinks, even the sugar free variety. I don’t really take supplements except my calcium supplement, so I try to eat healthy food and keep well hydrated. I also can only run on a empty stomach, if I eat before run I will feel lethargic. But, yes everyone is different, this works for me.

6. Q : How running change Zaheda’s life?

A : Running has had huge impact on my life. It helps me deal with the stress in life. I am healthier, fitter and I find that I don’t get sick often, Alhamdulillah. It is good for your body and mental well being. I often joke with my friends that I’m addicted to the endorphins and need to get my fix daily.

7. Q : What does Zaheda wear when she runs?

A: Initially I ran in an abaya but after a few near falls, I started customizing my gear and now I’ve discovered Nashata whose range I’m totally in love with. I now have the freedom of doing what I love, looking good and modest all at the same time.

8. Q : How did Zaheda discover Nashata?

A : I discovered Nashata by chance really, I searched Islamic Sportswear and it came up. Then, I followed them on Facebook. Eliza is very professional and it was absolute pleasure purchasing from her.

9. Q : What is Zaheda’s advice to other novice runners?

A :  My advice is please don’t give up. It is difficult at first but it gets easier and enjoyable. Listen to your body, rest when you feel like it and don’t feel guilty. I adorn the niqaab or face veil, I’m wearing it for 5 years now, Alhamdulillah. Initially I thought I’d never run again as I had never seen a niqaabi run. I used to do strength training with a personal trainer and we found that I was getting really strong but not really loosing weight and she suggested I start running again and for a while I found excuses, silly ones, what would people say, what would I wear until finally she pushed me so hard that I was out of excuses. Things that I learnt are don’t give up on your dreams, the only thing holding you back is YOURSELF. There is certain kind of magic in misery, ask any runners out there.

InsyaAllah, may all women out there will be inspired by Zaheda, the running Niqaabi 😉

#NashataRun4Charity for South Africa Children Centre

In March 2017, Fatimah, Intan Suraya, Nahsuhah,  Saamiyah, Zaheda and Zainab (not her real name)  volunteer to run more than 600 km as a team to raise funds for Baitul Aman. For every 1km they run, Nashata will contribute RM1 to Baitul Aman. You can help sponsor them too and make their run worth more for the children at Baitul Aman.

As of 22nd March, the running sisters have ran 457 km. Zaheda tops the team with 124km to date. Make their sweat worth more and more for the children they wish to help. Sponsor at least USD5 to these runners at LaunchGood or RM22 at Nashata

Why you should sponsor the run?

You can be a part of the cause and help our running sisters make a bigger impact for Baitul Aman. Make their sweat worth more and more for the children they wish to help. Sponsor at least USD5 to these runners at LaunchGood or RM22 at Nashata

Why Baitul Aman, La Mercy?

Our running sisters from South Africa feel strongly about children and education. They collectively chose Baitul Aman to be the recipient of the cause. With the increase of the HIV and AIDS pandemic, the number of abandoned babies and neglected children from diverse backgrounds requires Baitul Aman  to cover conventional child and youth care programme as well as others. The home takes care on average 48 children including abandoned babies.

What is the duration of the fund raising?

Our running sisters started running for Baitul Aman from 1st March ’17 and will stop 31st March ’17. However, the sponsorship continues until 10 April ’17

What happens to the sponsorship?

The amount sponsored via launchgood will be transferred directly to Baitul Aman.  Fatimah, Saamiyah, Zaheda and Zainab (the runners) will visit the center to deliver sponsorship from Nashata at the end of the campaign.

You can be apart of this too. You can :

  • Sponsor the runners at least USD5
  • Virtual run with the runners wherever you are. You can post your runs and use hashtags #nashatavirtualrun4charitySouthAfrica #nashatavirtualrun4charity
  • Follow and support the runners on social media. These are the hashtags for the run #nashatavirtualrun4charitySouthAfrica #nashatavirtualrun4charity

The Strong Brunei Runners @ the Nashata Charity Run

Assalamualaikum my dear friends,

February has passed with 711 km collective mileage by four wonderful runners from Brunei (Moniri, NurAin, Nana and Feeda) and two Nashata runners (Nahsuhah & I). Our target was 500 km and we clearly overshot by 42%.  Brunei was the first country that embarked into NashataRun4Charity and we were truly blessed to have found committed runners who selflessly volunteered to run for an Autism Center called SMARTER Brunei.

Nurain pulled together her friends to run virtually with us, and alhamdullillah, she collected the most mileage – 205km by climbing up and down the stairs and running. That was simply remarkable – running on average 7.3km/day throughout the month! But she did it anyways, raising her bar, one week after another, from 50km to 100km  to 150km to 200km. She lost 3 kg in a healthy way and raised funds for a cause of her choice. I am so happy for her.

As for me, I was happy to have run 112km in February. Never have I thought I would run so much in a month. Somehow, throughout Feb, running in the morning became something I had to do, and alhamdulillah I managed to improve my pace. I tried to run fast, as I couldn’t afford to spend too much time running. Towards the end of the month, I was reminded by a friend to slow down to prevent injury. I took it easy the last few days and decided to smell the grass and roses as I ran. I lost only a bit of weight as my appetite increased. The good thing about running is that you tend to take care of your food intake and drink a lot of water.

nashata run for charity

A picture after each run. My Garmin watch kept me on my toes and my Hubby kept me company 🙂

Other than running to my fullest potential, these are some of my other key learning I get from the running girls.

1. Ain’s Achievable Goal Setting Motto : “Desire + Determination + Action = Achievement. We need to set our target, locked it and do it. even if we fall or fail, don’t give up, just get back up and continue.”

2. Running tips to improve timing and prevent injury by Nahsuhah

  • Listen to your body
  • If you plan to run everyday, 5km – 7 km would be enough
  • Eat accordingly,..don’t starve
  • Plan your pace wisely
For example if you run everyday, pace 6.30 – 7 min/km would be nice
If you plan to run twice a week, 5.30 – 6 min/km is ok

We raised decently for SMARTER Brunei and we hope to come back to Brunei for the same or other cause soon. I truly hope the funds, although small will help the center to progress. My heartiest gratitude and thanks to the runners and contributors who funded us to run.

Meanwhile, the Nashata runners are running with 4 other runners from South Africa in March. I won’t be running for the March run, but will be supporting the team for sure. There will be more updates by Nahsuhah soon, InsyaAllah.

Virtual Run for charity 😉

Alhamdullilah, our intent to run for charity as shared on our previous blog → https://blog.nashata.com/?p=7253 kicks start this month as planned. Four runners from Brunei and I will be running to raise funds for Brunei SMARTER Autism Centre.

1.What is Brunei SMARTER Autism Centre ?

A non- government organization, run by parents and family members of the individual exclusively for Autism Spectrum Disorder in Brunei. It was established 15 years ago as a support system for families of Individuals with autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex developmental issues with signs typically appear during early childhood and  affect a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. This centre will ensure that individuals with Autism will receive guidance and appropriate programs in order to expand their full potential. (info as shared on SMARTER Brunei website)

2. Why did we choose Brunei SMARTER Autism Centre ?

As promised, the money we raise for the month of February will be channeled to the charity of choice of the runners. Ain, one of the participating runners suggested SMARTER Autism and we support her cause. Ain is a working mother of 3, with an autistic child. According to her, this centre needs more support to sustain and keep activities alive for autistic children and adults.

3. Who will run?

There are 4 running sisters from Brunei; Ain, Feeda, Nana and Moniri, while I am running on behalf of Nashata. Nashata pays RM1 for every 1KM we run for the month of February. Eliza Noordin, the founder of Nashata will also run to top up the group mileage. The group target mileage is 500 km for this month. We will clock the mileage and post it via Instagram and Facebook everyday after each run. So do look out for our progress and please support us. These are the hashtags we use for the run. Please feel free to check them out. #nashatarun4charity #nashatarun4charityBruneiFeb2017 #vrun4charity #nashatarunner
