The Weekend Runner: Hot Yoga at Hot Yo Studio

I’m hanging up my running shoes for this weekend because:

1)     My back, neck, and knees were hurting, so no high impact workout.

2)     Running was starting to feel like a routine, so taking a break for a few days will be a good way to mentally reset myself.

 

I knew the right remedy for this was a good stretch, and I immediately thought about a hot pilates class that I used to go at a boutique gym/studio called Urban Spring. Unfortunately, the class that I wanted did not fit into my timing. So, out of curiosity, I stumbled across an app called KFit (it might not be available worldwide yet, but it is available in Asia), where you can find thousands of drop-in classes for gym, yoga, bootcamp, TRX, etc. and you can redeem one free class per month. And that’s where I found the perfect alternative – a hot yoga class at a new studio called Hot Yo Studio.

 

IMG_1290I prefer small, independent, boutique gyms/studios over franchises. They make me feel right at home because the crowd is smaller and more intimate.

I love how they put thought into the design, continuing on the monochrome theme from the studio, to the receptionist, changing room, and even the shower.

 

As soon as I sat down on my yoga mat in the 38°C studio, I can feel my muscles and joints starting to relax. There was a range of flexibility and experience from today’s crowd, so the instructor focused on some really basic ones such as tree pose, cobra pose, and pigeon pose, but she did encouraged us to follow more complicated poses as well such as half lotus toe balance.

My last experience in hot pilates has taught me to wear as simple as possible. Inner hijab caps are a big no, because the tight fabric will hinder circulation, causing a massive headache from the heat. Thankfully, Nashata’s Iman hijab was sufficient to ensure that my hair stays in place without the help of a cap. It is also advisable to wear something form-fitting yet not too tight, so the instructor will be able to tell if you are doing your poses correctly.

At the end of the 60 minutes session, I felt ‘light’ and toned because the sweat has helped me detoxified, and the best part was the back and knee pain was gone! It was a good stretch to realign my posture and loosen up the tight muscles. I did not experience any muscle soreness or fatigue, and I am now mentally recharged to start running again. I’ll be back as soon as I can slot in a session between my running schedule!

NASHATA Be Active Stay Healthy #BASH2015

This post is long due, but better late than never. We organised #BASH2015 specially for our customers and partners who have been supporting us the past year. As much as we are online based, we love meeting our customers face to face & working out together too!

The small-do was held on the 24th January 2015, at the Putrajaya Lakeclub, Presint 8. Those who came get a door gift of compression arm sleeves. At 8 am, our trainers from MARS Insanity Fitness, led by Rasid Shariff, started the morning work out with 15 minutes yoga. Why did we choose Insanity Fitness? Our partners and resellers voted for it, leaving zumba and aerobics at the bottom of the list.

After yoga, over 30 sisters from different ages and fitness level started the insanity work out intensely for 40 minutes. Insanity work out is known for its intensity and high-calorie burn-rate. Those who are used to running or zumba may not necessary be able to cope with the level of endurance required. I am sure many could testify to it, post work-out!

Some stopped in between but all completed strong that morning, The training helped to build endurance as claimed by a few sisters who were preparing for their full marathon. After the workout, we all had breakfast together with a bit of chit chat among each other.

We received many invaluable feedback from those who came. We are excited with the list of WANTS; somewhat overwhelming I must say, but we will try. InsyaAllah, we will put them into the store soon. As for swimwear we have to put it on hold for the time being, although we already have a design that makes our sisters look radiant and fabulous. There are many providers in the market and we are not able to compete with them price-wise. Our products use high quality fabric and the design requires delicate workmanship. Therefore, we can only produce swimwear that is for premium market. Our focus now is to make Nashata affordable for all walks of life, without compromising quality.

We hear a few positive buzz-lines about Nashata from those who came; “Exclusive”, “Fashionable” and “Comfortable”. We are happy to hear our effort to use high quality fabric that is light-weight and moisture-wicking, and our designs that make our sisters look good, and be confident with their bodies are showing positive outcomes. Our sisters are more comfortable and more attuned to working out with Nashata.

Cara memilih BRA SUKAN

Tak pasti bra sukan yang mana sesuai untuk aktiviti sukan anda? Kalau anda sedang mencari bra sukan, kami ada sedikit sebanyak panduan untuk memilih bra sukan yang sesuai untuk anda.

 

1) Mengukur lilitan dada dan lilitan buah dada secara selari

A – Ambil ukuran panjang lilit di bawah buah dada dalam ukuran Inchi dan tambahkan jumlah tersebut dengan lagi 5 inci.

B – Kemudian ambil ukuran di buah dada yang paling maksimum dan pastikan ukuran diambil dengan selari

 

C – Jumlah B tolak (-) dengan jumlah A = ukuran bra (inci)

3) Pilih warna yang tidak terang

Bra sukan yang berwarna gelap akan kelihatan ketara di baju apabila anda berpeluh. Pilih warna yang lembut serta tidak terlampau bercorak sehingga boleh nampak di baju. Ini adalah penting untuk mereka yang ingin kelihatan sederhana dalam pemakaian. Pastikan anda tidak memakai baju yang tebal di bahagian luar untuk mengelakkan panas.

 

4) Pad

Fungsi utama pad adalah untuk mengelakkan kesan jarang, memberi sokongan dan membuatkan buah dada kelihatan besar bagi mereka yang mempunyai buah dada yang kecil. Sesetengah wanita memang tidak selesa memilih bra sukan yang mempunyai pad bergantung pada setiap individu.

5) Pelbagai rekabentuk bra sukan dan jenis tali bra di bahu

Pilih tali bra sukan yang mempunyai lebar yang besar untuk mengurangkan tekanan pada bahagian bahu semasa bersukan. Mereka yang memiliki size buah dada yang besar, anda digalakkan memilih tali yang bersaiz besar dan lebar bagi menyokong buah dada anda dengan baik. Terdapat pelbagai design dan jenis tali yang terdapat di pasaran. Terdapat juga tali yang boleh di ubah suai mengikut kesesuaian anda (adjustable straps). 6) Mengenal pasti jenis senaman yang kerap dilakukan

Terdapat reka bentuk dan design untuk memberi sokongan yang berbeza. Anda digalakkan memakai bra “Shock Absorber” di mana dengan pemakaian bra ini buah dada anda tidak akan bergoyang semasa melakukan aktiviti sukan lasak seperti Aerobik dan mangakibatkan ketidak selesaan. Bra “Less/No Bounce” pula membantu anda bersukan dengan penuh keyakinan dan sesuai untuk sukan impak rendah dan sederhana.

7) Regangan di bahagian bawah dada

Pastikan anda tidak memilih ‘band’ yang terlalu ketat sehingga  mengganggu pernafasan. Pilihlah ketegangan band yang selesa untuk anda. Terdapat band yang kelebarannya besar dan ada juga yang kecil. Ketebalan ini ada yang mengikut fesyen sahaja dan ada juga yang berguna untuk memberi sokongan yang sesuai mengikut saiz badan.

8) Jenis kain yang sesuai

Ada terdapat bra sukan yang mempunyai satu dan dua lapis seperti yang di tunjukkan dalam gambar dibawah. Kain didalamnya kapas (pink cotton) dan diluarnya Polyster oren untuk tampak lebih aktif. Kain cotton penting bagi pemakai yang sensitif dengan kain sintetik seperti polyster dan nylon. Pilih kain yang memberi tekanan (compression) agar dada anda tidak bergerak semasa melakukan sukan lasak dan pastikan ianya selesa di pakai.

9) Penggunaan Bra Besi (Underwire)

Walaupun majoriti pemain sukan menyukai bra sukan yang tiada sokongan besi kerana ianya lebih selamat dan selesa, terdapat juga sesetengah wanita yang selesa memakai bra sukan yang mempunyai sokongan besi. Ianya bergantung kepada pilihan dan keselesaan masing-masing kerana ada yang mendapati sokongan besi lebih kuat kepada buah dada semasa bergerak ketika bersukan.
