5 TIPS TO STAY ENERGIZED DURING FASTING MONTH

Often we feel lethargic during the month of Ramadhan due to lack of nutrients. Ramadhan is a month of worshiping God that is portrayed in many ways; like tarawikh prayers, reciting Quran, zikr, doing good deeds, charity and more. Performing some deed can drain your energy out. A popular question for muslims; Is there a way to make it up to this? There are more deeds I would love to do but how do I stay energized when fasting? Come! Let’s find out how.

1. Eat energy booster food

Foods that is high in fiber, proteins and good fats (e.g: obtained from fish, nuts, coconut oil, and etc.). These kind of foods will slower your hunger and boost you body energy. Nevertheless, you still have to keep a balanced diet and moderate. Avoid eating unhealthy oily food although they are easily accessible at bazaars. Go for quality, not quantity. Bake instead of fry. Drink plenty of juices or eat a lot of fruits to keep body hydrated and nutrient. Be picky with what you eat.

It has been mentioned by Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) regarding healthy eating habits: “A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one third of food, one third for drink and one third for air.” [Ibn Majah]

Break your fast with a light and balanced iftar

2. Drink plenty of water

Inadequate of water can lead to dehydration. If you’re not keeping the right level of water in your body, your body will struggle. How do you do it during Ramadhan? Here’s how:

  • 2 glasses at suhur
  • 4 glasses between iftar and suhur
  • 2 glasses at iftar

Nevertheless, you should know your body needs of water intake everyday. Here’s a chart you should know on water intakes for your body needs. Drink fruit juices to add more nutrient for your body.

3. Shake it up

Maintain your metabolism during Ramadhan as it may decline due to lesser food intake. Sitting too much or less movement makes your body more lethargic. Try walking around or do a mini workout to regain your activate your body energy. You can try yoga, pick up dumbells or do light stretches. Just get up and do something else shortly to improve blood circulation. Even preparing your own healthy meals for breakfast can keep you alive! Find and try out new healthy recipes during Ramadhan.

4. Socialize around

Distract the tiredness by small chatting with your colleagues and friends. Socializing minimizes stress, boosts brainpower, and rids away the fatigue. While you chat, don’t forget to stick a smile and laugh more as it stimulates energy and improves mood. You might want to add some entertainments like playing games for a suggestion, just to be free from stress.

5. Sleep tight

Get a good night sleep to improve your energy level for the next day. How can you achieve that? Sleep soundly by turning off electronic gadgets and make sure your bedroom is cool with the right temperature. Make sure you get at least 6 hours of sleep a day despite the late night Tarawih prayers and early morning suhoor. If you can nap during daytime, you could do that to ensure your body gets enough rest. Do not compromise your sleep.

Keep a healthy diet and ibadah this Ramadhan. Get your fitness and ibadah routines work hand in hand harmoniously for a better wellness.

Bare Faces – Authentic, Everlasting!

Bare Faces in Sports!

No make-up or bare faces trend seeped in Spring last year and the trend seems to continue among netizens. With high quality cameras on phone, filters and editing apps on mobile phones, women are more confident wearing a naked face and share with friends on social media. People nowadays prefer something natural without make-up or less make-up. This shows authenticity without having to cover up their appearance. Make-up here means those who wears a heavy total-covered make-up with mascara, eye-shadows, red hot lips, and etc. Thin layer of make-up made of mineral oil are acceptable as long as it does not block pores.

Why Make Up?

People who wears make-up tend to be afraid and have less confidence in themselves whenever they’re in public without make-up. A study shows that majority or 65% female wear makeup to attain self-esteem. In this reason, women believe that through makeup, they could gain confidence, self-assurance, self-trust, social competence and comfort in terms of interpersonal relationship.

The good news is that more and more women who embrace active lifestyles are confident with their looks. Look at these fresh faces and full of confidence. Take heed and mark in mind! Attaining confidence is not all about you look on the outside. It’s about how happy and joyful you are when engaged in any sports activity. The more confident you are bare-face, the more beautiful you will become. Just take care of your skin, groom well & stay healthy!

Embrace who you are

What do Men Say?

“It is the person, not the make up”, says Yahya Iskandar, also known as Fat Old Man Running

“Natural beauty is my preference” added All Rasid Shariff, a yoga and fitness trainer

We also asked a few other men who are in fitness and active in running about their thoughts about make up and their perception of ladies with:

  • No Make up – Natural, Relaxed, Low Maintenance
  • Make up – Formal, She takes Effort, High Maintenance
  • Too much Make up – Vain

The general senses we get from a few guys in sports is that a clean face & natural are well accepted by them. So stay authentic, groom yourself naturally, stay healthy & build your personality!

What to do?

Think twice, what attracts more is your personality not your outside looks. Nonetheless, few women likes to wear make-up during sports. But we all know wearing make-up during sports activity is not good for the skin.

Why is it not good for the skin?

  • It blocks pores causing the pores to expand wider.
  • It causes blackheads which might leads to acne.
  • You’ll get frequent breakouts.
  • Last but not least. You’ll learn to be grateful and love your natural face

The question is how do you stay confident without make-up on? Simple, you take care of your skin. Here’s how to beautify your skin naturally.

  • Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated
  • Eat lots of vitamin C enriched food
  • Get enough sleep
  • Get enough exercise every week
  • Clean your face after a good workout

#BeautifulBareFace Challenge

Are you confident enough exercising with your bare face, not a single touch up on your face? Whenever you snap a picture of yourself with no make-up on whilst exercise, tag @nashatadotcom and add #BeautifulBareFace. We will repost your beautiful pictures!

Your courage could be an inspiration to someone to just become naturally yourself. It could also be inspirational to those who are not confident to exercise outdoor because they are worried to work out bare face.

After all, we are all beautiful!

Tips for Ultra Trail Run Starter

Have you ever participate in a trail run? If you haven’t, then this is your chance to get some benefits from our runner, Nahsuhah, who’s just done her first trail run at Route68. Route68 is a race course that took place on the 10th April where runners passed through remote area of Gombak, Selangor with an elevation of 1,900 m. How awesome is that?

Nahsuhah at Route68

Nahsuhah at Route68

Ow well..

Why Ultra Run?

First of all, why did she join the Route68? She joined it because she was suggested by her friend after she did the Pink50 run (Pink50 is a 50km loop run). According to her, it was slightly different. It has only one loop as to compared to the Pink50 that has 17 loops all together. The track was cooler for there are lots of trees to shade under. New experience comes with new knowledge, a reason for you to join the trail run.

This hard core girl loves the Ultra run for she can manage her time on completing the distance. She has done a 50km ultra run within 9 hours. Ultra is the medium that can challenge you beyond the limit. Compared to the Full Marathon (FM), Nahsuhah prefers Ultra than FM. Most likely because of the limited time that you need to complete within 8 hours.

According to Nahsuhah’s experience, you have to be wise on how to manage your time and energy. For her, she prefers to run as much as she can before the weather gets hot. Still, you need not follow every of her pace. You can just maintain your comfy speed instead in order to sustain your energy throughout the 9 hours.

So, if you never try ultra, you should add it to your wish list. Don’t limit yourself and try to do a proper training (e.g. LSD at least 21km) whenever you’re free. This prepares you mentally and physically. Schedule your time and make sure you carb-load and hydrate yourself enough during that week. Extra tips: if you never try run with hydration bag, you should start training with it so you will be used to it during the event.

What do you carry with you at the run?

A hydration bag, energy gel or bar, reflective vest, blinker, headlamp, mobile phone. All these are basically the mandatory items. Do take salt tablet with you to prevent cramp for long hour run.

Mandatory Gear List Provided

Mandatory Gear List Provided by Route68 Organiser

One more advice for newbies. You should know that it’s not necessary to put all the effort to run all the way. You might want to walk and run alternatively, that too also will helps you to finish in cut off time. One more thing, try brisk walk (11 min/km) when there is elevation of the road and run (7min/km) at your comfy pace when downhill. That might help, InsyaAllah.

Talking about elevation, make sure you study and know the route, elevation and key stations allocated the run. Keep visuals of them on your phone if the organiser provides them. Remember, your safety is important and you need to stay safe throughout the run.

Lastly don’t forget to smile while running as it gives you a better and confident feeling. Never let the stress overtake your enjoyment during run.

Unbelievable Achievement for Beginners

Going to the mall every weekend can be quite boring; not knowing what to buy and experiencing the same thing in a concrete building. To make our weekend interesting, my sister and I decided to go on a trail hiking at Bukit Kledang, Ipoh. The place is quite famous for the residence living nearby.

Everyday, this place will be crowded with visitors, especially during holidays. The fresh face and friendly smiles from the young generations to the old ones given to each other spreading positive vibes are something that I don’t always get in the mall. Everyone is enjoying the view of nature.

Stunning View from Up Hill

Along the way up to the hill, is well-equip with toilets on few checkpoints, outdoor exercise equipments and they also have a plant nursery where you can snap photos. All these facilities are only provided half way through the journey. The next half way won’t be any proper toilets for you to use.

mprk_az_2003_iphgarden

I would love to wake up to gardening every morning. It’s just so peaceful and refreshing.

20160321202925

Half way there!

Based on what we’ve learnt from the others and my GPS, the distance is almost 14km total from going up to the hill and going down from the hill. It took us 2 hours to climb up to the top of the hill and almost another 2 hours to get down. Our legs were wobbly as we went down and we had to walk flaccidly to loosen up our muscles.

8f447cab-e507-45be-a33b-fc92a39301c0

Found a highly dangerous baby blue coral snake. We didn’t know it was venomous till we made research on it. So, avoid getting too close to anything that you know nothing about it. You don’t want to end up in a hospital.

Make sure you fill up your tummy before hiking up and bring enough drinking water or food (if required) as there is no stalls or places for you to fuel up half way up onwards. There are only stalls selling fruits at the foot of the hill. It is quite a shady walk, so you need not bring hats. Go up light! But do put on sunblocks just in case.

20160321191730

Yay! Mission accomplished!

Alhamdulillah. We made it to the top! I never thought I could do it. The key to this achievement is to have a supporter or motivator that keeps you moving on because the only thing the stops you is your mind.

It’s a perfect place for a family weekend! So, what are you waiting for? 😀

8 Lame Excuses Not to Exercise

Everyone has a different personality and interests. You alone decide whether to choose good or not. The same applies to sports, there should be interest and patience to achieve the desired weight. Practicing negative mindsets only brings you down. What type mindsets are these? These are lame excuses that we often hear:

REASON # 1

“I’m busy. I’ve more other stuff that I have to prioritize.”

Usually workload makes one too busy and care less about finding time for exercise. If you are more concerned with money, this reason is common. Remember, it’s better to prevent than to cure. You wouldn’t want to spend your money on remedy, would you?

REASON # 2

“I’m already fat, so what? Nothing can change that.”

First, change your perceptions and know that anyone can change. You just need to put a little effort and constant dedication. Get someone who can keep you motivated on losing weight.

REASON # 3

“I don’t need to exercise. I only eat diet food.”

h_gumnastikh_paxainei600_155759_5Y4G63 Diet alone is fine if you take really low intake of calorie for a long period of time to lose your weight. But this is too much for people to handle. You need to exercise to burn calories and at the same time control your eating habit. That way you are able to balance your health without craving food.

REASON # 4

“I don’t want my body to look like The Hulk.”

Actually, this imagination has gone way too far. Your body will look better if you exercise in discipline manner. To get a body like a bodybuilder is not that easy, it requires a very long time.

REASON # 5

“My body always aches after the workout.”

Your body will be sore after sports because you rarely play sports. It also happens when you didn’t warm up first or you are doing it the wrong way. Don’t see it as a big thing to do. You actually are exercising every step you climbed stairs.

REASON # 6

“I’ll workout later”

Until when? Delaying is the most hardest part to avoid. Most people only workout for a temporary reason. Especially for their wedding look. Ask yourself again. Are you working out for yourself or other people?

REASON # 7

“I don’t have anything suitable to wear for sports.

I don’t want to mess up my mind for this. What a waste of time.”

1935307_947690321980675_1653379669094222015_n

Fashionista. Women who are always concern about what they wear. Bare in mind, the best outfit to wear for sports are always the simplest yet covers your aurah. Let’s simplify this. There are few options nowadays to look for sportswear and Nashata.com is one of the most popular sportswear for those who want to look modest but still in fashion.

REASON # 8

“People are staring at me, too embarrassed to join any aerobic.”

AvmHUqQCrH0QgIOyApBPtD2f-GSRSe5Jb3WaOX5zRxXl

Some people feel embarrassed to exercise, especially plus size people who want to lose weight because she feels herself being watched. You really should never think and care about what people say because it makes you lose the spirit. Prove to them you can do it! You might as well join fitness center for women where you can feel freedom from the eyes of men. You can find it everywhere nowadays.

Are you one of these reasons? If you are, stay away from this negative vibes. EMPOWER an active lifestyle and you’ll stay healthier than before!
